TATAMI [2018]

Spring time in Japan is a time for people to flock to parks to see beautiful sakura. And when summer arrives, people gather to watch fireworks. However, with all these visitors, there is the danger of the parks turning into a sea of blankets and chairs, something which detracts from the natural beauty. With that in mind, I have designed TATAMI, a stylish mat inspired by the traditional floor cover found in Japanese homes, temples and shrines. TATAMI will complement the natural beauty of the park, allowing tourists and residents alike to enjoy sakura and fireworks in all their splendor.
 
日本では春には花見、夏には花火を楽しむ人々で賑わいます。外国人観光客の増加に伴い
さらにその数は増えるでしょう。花見や花火大会の敷物といえばブルーシートが主流です
が、日本の景色を台無しにしているのではないかと考えました。それを畳柄に変えること
によってその景色は一瞬にして粋なものに変化するでしょう。
