KUNAI [2017]

KUNAI, a Japanese capsule hotel named after the famous Ninja weapon, requested a redesign of its building exterior in order to attract foreign visitors to Japan. Capsule hotels are famous for their economy of space and style, and so I decided to employ black walnut to create a sleek look that emulates the historical style of the Ninja while also reflecting the simplicity for which capsule hotels are known.
